Piazza Duomo
It is the main square of the city, and you find it just a few steps from the apartment.
3 main streets converge in this square: via Giuseppe Garibaldi, via Vittorio Emanuele II, and via Etnea, the latter is a long street full of life with countless stores, restaurants and bars, surely a walk that you cannot miss .
At the center of the square is the symbol of Catania "u Liotru", a statue of an elephant in lavic stone on an ovelisk, placed in the center of a marble fountain.

"A piscaria" (The historical fish market)
The iconic "A piscaria" of Catania is one of the most representative scenarios of authentic Sicilianity. It is the symbol of the territory that tells wonderful stories every day, through the variety of Mediterranean sea fresh products, and the artisan fishermen.
Just a few steps away is also the artisan market of fruits, vegetables and typical Italian and Sicilian food, where you can also enjoy the small restaurants located along the streets of the market.

Monastero dei Benedettini
It is listed as one of the baroque jewels of the city and was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It is the third largest monastery in Europe, it was founded in 1558 but after the earthquake of the eighteenth century it was almost completely rebuilt in the Baroque style. Visiting the monastic complex is the perfect occasion to hear fascinating stories and learn more about the anecdotes of the city's past.
Teatro Massimo Bellini
For lovers of opera, art and history, the Massimo Bellini Theatre, founded in 1890, is one of the most evocative buildings in the city, whose name commemorates the famous opera composer Vincenzo Bellini. The Theatre was inaugurated with Bellini’s masterpiece: Norma. And it is characterized by its Sicilian baroque style and stands out for its fascinating acoustics. Inside it preserves an incredible dome in which you can appreciate the frescoes depicting some of Bellini's operas.
